Daniel. E. (Dan) MacIvor After wartime service in the RCAF, Dan worked in various jobs in British Columbia aviation. It was during his work as a forestry pilot on the Pacific coast that he pursued his lifelong vision of fighting forest fires from the air. Dan's genius was in his belief in his ideas, his persistence in proving his ideas and his ability to think and act big. He used this genius to pursue the largest operational flying boats in existence, the Martin Mars and was able to convince the owner to sell, convince the forest industry to buy, and convince the Navy to sell spare parts, plans etc. With salemanship which almost defies the imagination, he envisioned and sold aerial fire surpression on a scale far beyond anything done before or since. |
